BE A MENTOR

Why become a mentor?

  • Support students/those in early or established careers in the food industry

  • Learn about the challenges that others face and offer support

  • Support recruitment of new talent into the industry

  • Potential for reverse mentoring to learn from someone different from yourself

  • Share your experiences to guide others

What is expected of a mentor?

  • Mentors needs to be clear on what they have to offer and the kind of mentee they would like to support

  • We suggest being able to dedicate 1 hour of time per month to your mentee discussions, plus some preparation time

  • The mentee should lead the relationship and be clear with you as a mentor on the areas of support they are looking for

  • Commitment and respect - we ask our mentors to be respectful of the mentees commitment and time and to ensure they are committed to the process

Our pairing windows happen twice a year. Not all applications to be a mentor are successful.

Read through our mentoring guide to learn how to make the most of your mentoring relationship.
